System Optics Engineer

We are seeking to add to our team an additional system engineer to take part and ownership of the optical sub system. As a Systems Optics Engineer you will play a crucial role in the definition, design, development, and testing of optical systems and components. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and functionality of optical systems, and you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create solutions that push the boundaries of technology, develop cutting edge technology and a product that aims to change the world.

 

Job Description

  • Optical System Design: Develop and design optical systems, including lenses, mirrors, detectors, and imaging systems, using optical design software and modeling tools.
  • Collaborate with peers, colleagues and subcontractors to develop the needed technology and knowhow to design Q sensor and product by guiding them to bring the needed answers, knowledge and design per product and tech needs.
  • Optical Component Selection: Choose appropriate optical components and materials for specific applications, considering factors such as wavelength, resolution, and environmental conditions.
  • Simulation and Analysis: Perform optical simulations and analyses to optimize system performance, including tolerance analysis, aberration correction, and stray light analysis.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Build and test optical prototypes to validate design concepts, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance.
  • Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors and manufactures  to integrate optical systems into larger projects or products, ensuring seamless interoperability with other subsystems.
  • Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation, including optical system specifications, test procedures, and reports.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and solve complex optical engineering challenges and provide innovative solutions to enhance system performance.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that optical systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations, and participate in safety reviews.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years as a lead system engineer responsible for the optical subsystem development and product 
  • Proven experience in optical system design, analysis, and testing with contractors and manufactures
  • Hands on experience with optical systems design
  • Hands on experience with emitters
  • Experience with simulation tools, Python, P-Spice or MATLAB –  must
  • Hands-on experience with optical prototyping and testing equipment
  • Working knowledge with imaging systems design (CMOS, optical params, …)  –  advantage
  • Deploying multi-disciplinary products to mass production – Adv.
  • Outstanding team player and communicator

 

Education

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related field
